Eligibility

  • Undergraduate degree classification of 2:2 or above.
  • Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English language and maths.
  • Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE science (primary applicants only).
  • A period of school observation before interview is not currently a requirement, however this may enable you to develop your understanding of teaching and learning.
  • Suitable references that endorse your character and suitability for teaching. At least one reference must be academic or professional.

Please note that all offers are conditional and subject to the satisfactory outcome of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and health check. These checks will be completed by the university with whom you complete your teacher training, if you are a tuition fee trainee, and by the school at which you complete your teacher training, if you are a salaried trainee.

Apprenticeship places represent a significant commitment from the host school to fund salary and associated benefits. For this reason, schools will take care to select candidates who they feel have a level of maturity (irrespective of age) to operate as a responsible member of staff.
